The Spanish champions proved themselves to be true comeback champions in the knockout stage. Carlo Ancelotti’s team came from behind against Paris Saint-Germain, as well as against Chelsea and Manchester City, but still emerged victorious in the end. One reason for Real’s comeback qualities were the goals from attacker Karim Benzema, who has scored nine goals since the round of 16 alone. In two games he was even successful three times. Such a success for the Spaniards was not necessarily to be expected, as they were considered to be a discontinued model.
