Many politicians are now concerned about the falling vaccination rate in Germany. Bundestag President Schäuble said that he could not understand the lack of willingness to vaccinate and calls for more freedom for those who have been vaccinated.
Bundestag President Wolfgang Schäuble considers it appropriate that those who have been vaccinated and recovered from the corona pandemic enjoy more freedom than those who have not been vaccinated. It has been proven that after recovery or after a full vaccination, the risk of infecting others decreases significantly, said Schäuble of the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”. “Therefore we will not be able to permanently subject these groups to all the restrictions that must apply to non-vaccinated people in order to fight the pandemic,” emphasized the CDU politician.
Other countries as a role model
“I don’t see any constitutional problems for such a different treatment of those tested on the one hand and those who have recovered and vaccinated on the other, since the risk of vaccination is extremely low according to the current state of knowledge.”
France, where non-vaccinated people no longer have free access to restaurants or cultural events, could be a role model for Germany. “We should definitely see how France and other countries are tackling the problem of the lack of vaccination readiness, which paths they are taking,” said Schäuble. A certain social pressure is “not wrong” from Schäuble’s point of view.

Schäuble was concerned about the lower vaccination rate in Germany. “I cannot understand the lack of willingness to vaccinate, that makes me extremely sad,” said the Speaker of Parliament. At the beginning of the year, people couldn’t have waited to get the injection that saved them. “And now family doctors are in despair because they are left with massive amounts of vaccine doses.” Complete vaccination protection for as many people as possible is the only chance to put Corona in its place and to secure freedom.
Social pressure and creative ideas
In order to increase the vaccination rate, Schäuble also hopes for social pressure. Each individual should deal more closely with the question of what consequences a refusal to vaccinate would have for their fellow human beings. At the same time, more vaccination offers are needed wherever people are anyway, soon again in front of the football stadium or the open-air concert. Any creative idea of how more people can be vaccinated is welcome.
“We must all avoid a new lockdown together. That would be devastating for society, the economy and all other areas of life,” Schäuble made clear. Especially in educational institutions from daycare to university, such restrictions should not be allowed to occur again, in order not to cause even more damage to children and young people.
Appeal, but no compulsion
In Germany politicians continue to reject compulsory vaccination. At the same time, they appealed to citizens to get vaccinated against the virus. Chancellery Minister Helge Braun (CDU) had discussed possible restrictions for non-vaccinated people at the weekend if Germany threatened a high fourth wave.
On a national average, 61.1 percent of people are vaccinated once, while 50.2 percent of people are fully vaccinated.
