“Death Stranding 2”: First trailer released

The first trailer for “Death Stranding 2” is nine minutes long: developer Hideo Kojima and his team show the first gameplay scenes from the mix of genres, which point to a similarly wild ride as the first part. In addition to various cutscenes, you can also see short gameplay excerpts in which the Decima engine developed by Guerrilla Games (“Horizen: Forbidden West”) flexes its muscles.

Part 2 of “Death Stranding” gets the name “On The Beach”. The cast includes actors Norman Reedus and Léa Seydoux, who reprise their roles from Part 1. The baby from part 1 is also back. The game description is vague – it’s about a “journey to save humanity from extinction”. The scenes shown in the trailer are as confusing as you would expect from a “Death Stranding” game.

As in Part 1, traveling will probably also be the central gameplay element in Part 2. The main character, Sam Porter Bridges, has to cross hostile landscapes while carrying as much luggage as possible. This time it apparently goes through rugged, volcano-like areas and through a desert. An airship serves as a base.

“Death Stranding 2: On The Beach” will also come onto the market exclusively for the Playstation, at least in the meantime – specifically the Playstation 5, a version for the PS4 is not planned. Kojima Productions is targeting 2025 as the release year, but there is no more precise date yet.

Part 1 came to the PC two years after its release – it’s quite possible that a PC version of “Death Stranding 2: On The Beach” is also planned at some point in time. In addition to “Death Stranding 2”, a film adaptation is planned, which will be created in collaboration between Kojima and the studio A24.
