March 24, 2023 has gone down as a black day in the history of the Meranier-Gymnasium in Lichtenfels. Immediately after class ended, a 17-year-old student was arrested near the school building as a suspect in a capital crime case. 14 days earlier, on March 10, a florist in the city center died violently during business hours. The crime shocked people beyond Upper Franconia – and caused bad blood in the Lichtenfels district.
