Deal check: entry-level laptop at the absolute lowest price

Not everyone needs a high-end notebook for a thousand euros or more. A solid model for texting, surfing and streaming is often significantly cheaper.

For many people, a laptop is an important everyday companion. But if you don’t need it for complex games or programs, you’re usually looking for a solid entry-level device at a low price. With the right deal you can save a lot even in smaller price segments. Ebay, for example, currently has the HP 17 notebook on offer at the lowest price – it has never been so cheap.

Entry-level laptop: Save even more on HP notebooks with a discount code

The features of the notebook indicate that it is equipped for the most important everyday tasks. Eight gigabytes (GB) of RAM is sufficient for normal office applications, surfing and streaming. There is also a fast SSD hard drive with 512 GB of storage space – also enough for documents, photos and films. Speaking of which: At 17.3 inches, the notebook isn’t exactly small, but the larger screen makes watching films and series a little more pleasant than on devices with smaller displays.

  • Battery life approx. eight hours
  • Fast charging function
  • Weight: 2.1 kilograms

Ebay currently estimates 366 euros, with a discount code you can save a further 36.60 euros, resulting in a bottom line of 329.40 euros – the device has never been so cheap. However, the discount code can only be redeemed until February 21, 2024.

Attention: The low price for the HP notebook is also due to the fact that the device is delivered without an operating system. In order to use the computer, Windows or Linux must first be installed, for example. This can usually be done either from a CD/DVD or with a bootable USB stick. If you don’t have one at home, you have to buy the operating system additionally and take that into account in the overall costs.

Alternative: Asus notebook with more power

The HP notebook is a solid all-rounder for everyday use. However, the 17.3 inches may be too unwieldy for some. Or maybe every now and then you need a little more power for complex programs or games. If you are looking for such a device, you may find it at Media Markt. The Asus Vivobook 15 is currently available there at a reduced price.

At 15.6 inches, the Asus device is more compact than the HP laptop and therefore fits more comfortably in most backpacks. 16 GB of RAM also offers double RAM for programs that require more power or if several applications are running at the same time. The screen is a bit smaller, but it runs on Full HD technology and therefore delivers a slightly sharper image than the HP device.

But buyers also have to dig a little deeper into their pockets to get the extra performance. The Asus notebook is currently available at Media Markt for 719 euros – almost 390 euros more than the HP device on Ebay. The Vivobook has been available cheaper in the past, but the Media Markt deal is currently the best on the internet. In other shops at least 30 euros more are due.
