A 16-year-old refugee shot by the police: The case of Mouhamed Dramé has received a lot of media attention. Unfortunately, his death is not an isolated case.

In August, 16-year-old Mouhamed Dramé was killed in a police operation. At first, however, he was not a danger to others: he just sat there and held a knife against his stomach. The young refugee was apparently in an exceptional psychological situation. The police commander gave the order to use pepper spray against him, which escalated the situation.

Unfortunately, the death of Mouhamed Dramé is not an isolated case: too often, mentally ill people die during police operations. This is the result of an SZ research in which, among others, Lena Kampf and Nadja Tausche from the investigative team were involved. In the podcast they talk about their research and explain what needs to change.
