Dead singer at Bercy, Sunday demonstration and classico

We hope you were able to enjoy your weekend. We spent these two days checking the news. And it’s time to sum it all up.

Drama in the middle of a concert on Saturday evening at the Accord Arena in Paris. The concert was awaited by their fans: six years after their separation, the members of Carimi found themselves on stage, where they had invited for the occasion the singer Mikaben, Michael Benjamin in the civil status. All together, they were to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the group. Shortly before 11 p.m., the Haitian singer collapsed on leaving the stage. The emergency services arrived quickly on the spot and tried to resuscitate the artist, in vain.

The body of a 12-year-old girl was discovered on Friday evening in a trunk found on rue d’Hautpoul, in the 19th arrondissement. The parents of the victim had reported her disappearance in the afternoon, surprised that she had not returned from college. Six people have been taken into custody in connection with this macabre affair. Among them, a woman seen who acts as the main suspect.

More info: It was not a bullfight, but a votive festival. A bull climbed the stands and hit a spectator on Saturday in Aigues-Mortes (Gard).

3. The march of the rebellious under the sun

The march of the rebellious “against the high cost of living and climate inaction” brought together between 30,000 (depending on the prefecture) and 140,000 people (according to the organizers). Jean-Luc Mélenchon, however, saw the “day one of a cycle never seen in our country” and announced the beginning of a “new Popular Front”. “You are going to live a week like we don’t often see, it’s the great conjunction, it’s us who are starting it with this march which is a huge success”, assured the former presidential candidate, little before 3:30 p.m. from a truck in the middle of the demonstrators.

No truce between Ukraine and Russia. New bombardments hit the Russian region of Belgorod, bordering Ukraine, on Sunday. Belgorod, the capital of the eponymous region, serves as a hub for the Russian army, which gathers equipment and troops there before sending them to the Ukrainian front. The airport was particularly targeted by these strikes. The day before, the Minister for the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu indicated that France will “train up to 2,000 Ukrainian soldiers” on its soil.

More info: During a speech at the Communist Party Congress in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping assured Sunday that China would seek to reunify Taiwan peacefully, but never give up “the use of force” if necessary.

5. Classico Sunday

PSG-OM, the classic of the French championship, is tonight. With for once a real suspense, since the Parisian ogre, at the head of the championship, has been less sovereign for a few weeks while the extra-sporting affairs are multiplying. Opposite, OM are doing well and have even started to win in the Champions League. To be continued tonight on 20 minutes sure. Just as you were able to experience the Spanish classico this afternoon, which saw Barça being overwhelmed by Real (3-1) from the inevitable Benzema. To live here again.

More info: We end with a smile. Gaël Monfils and Elena Svitolina announced on Saturday that they had become the parents of a little girl named Skaï. Congratulations to the happy parents (and to little Lucien, who came to enlarge the family of 20 minutes).
