DH Peligro, who played drums with the Dead Kennedys and briefly with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has died at the age of 63.

Drummer Darren Henley, better known by his stage name DH Peligro, is dead. The musician passed away according to an Instagram post from his band The Dead Kennedys on October 28 at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 63. The post also informs about the supposed cause of death. Accordingly, the police identified a head injury as a result of a “fall caused by an accident” as the reason. There is no mention of a possible third-party debt.

Peligro joined the punk band Dead Kennedys in 1981, replacing Dummer Bruce Schlesinger. Before disbanding in 1986, he was involved in five albums and was also part of the band’s reunion, which took place in 2001 with a new frontman. With the exception of a short hiatus in 2008, Peligro has continued to perform with the Dead Kennedys, but the band did not record a new studio album after their reunion.

Also short for the Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums

After the Dead Kennedys announced their split in the mid-1980s, Peligro briefly hired the Red Hot Chili Peppers around frontman Anthony Kiedis (59). He wrote three songs for the album “Mother’s Milk”, but was not heard on the album himself on drums. At this point, his replacement had already been found in the person of Chad Smith (61), who still sits on the drums for the funk rock band today.

Bassist Michael “Flea” Balzary (60) of the Red Hot Chili Peppers addressed touching words to his former bandmates via Instagram: “My dear friend, my brother, I miss you so much. Today I am devastated, a river of tears, but throughout my life I will cherish every second. The first time I saw you play with the DK in 1981 , you blew me away. That strength, that soul, that daring. […] You are a true rocker and a significant part of RHCP’s history.” He will carry Peligro in his heart forever.
