The Coburg public prosecutor’s office has filed charges in the case of the flower seller who was killed in Lichtenfels in March, as she announced on Monday. The public prosecutor’s office therefore assumes that a student who was 17 at the time killed the 50-year-old – like that Bavarian Radio (BR) reports to get cash. The teenager has been in custody since the end of March. The charge is murder.
According to BR, the public prosecutor’s office assumes that the young man (now 18) killed the woman at the beginning of March in order to finance a fishing course. He is said to have entered the flower shop shortly before closing time and killed the woman with several stab wounds – according to the results of an autopsy.
Walkers found the woman lifeless in the flower shop on March 10th. Investigators discovered traces of the suspect’s DNA at the crime scene. They later found the alleged murder weapon in his parents’ house, according to BR after several searches in the attic.
The police had previously tracked down the suspect through video recordings from a nearby department store. He was arrested on March 25th. A possible court case, which the Coburg Regional Court is now deciding on whether to open, would be heard under juvenile criminal law because the suspect was a minor at the time of the crime.
