The city of Ansbach is investigating allegations against the local animal shelter. According to a media report, this is said to have disposed of dead cats in household waste in order to save costs. A former animal shelter manager and other employees had this Bavarian Radio reported about it.
The Central Franconian city of Ansbach and the district office, where the responsible veterinary office is located, announced on Wednesday that the allegations were known. “As this is currently an ongoing process, we cannot provide any information about possible consequences or further proceedings,” said a city spokeswoman.
The animal shelter management was initially available for a statement upon request dpa not reachable. “This is an accusation that is simply not true,” said board member Günter Pfisterer in the statement BR-Report.
