The police have begun investigations into allegations against the animal shelter in Ansbach over alleged dead animals in household waste. As a spokesman for the Middle Franconia police headquarters said on Monday, the police are examining possible criminal consequences in this context in consultation with the public prosecutor’s office. The spokesman did not initially provide any further information, citing the ongoing proceedings.
The city of Ansbach had also announced that it wanted to examine the allegations. Bayerischer Rundfunk had previously reported that employees of the animal shelter had reported cats being disposed of in household waste. In addition, according to the information, sick or injured animals were not treated properly. The animal shelter initially left a query from the dpa about the allegations unanswered.
