From the 2022/2023 school year, all pupils in secondary schools in Bavaria are to complete a mandatory “Craft Day”. The aim is to bring the girls and boys closer to handicrafts. In this way, the professional fields of modern handicrafts are to be presented in a practical manner alongside the lessons, for example through company visits, project work in the companies or the presentation of the training occupations by trainees. The implementation of the “Tag des Handwerks” is binding for the general secondary schools and primarily intended for the grades in which there is a special focus on career orientation, it said. In particular, the students should be shown the advantages of dual training and the various development opportunities that follow.
