“David and Clémence shared the sum with me for my association”, reveals Elsa Esnoult

“There is a dramatic rise, a climax, a moment of extraordinary suspense, which the production could not anticipate or organize”, revealed Bernard Weber during the launch of traitors. He hadn’t exaggerated: the game of M6 ended Wednesday with a stunning epilogue, with, in the role of the heroine in spite of herself, Elsa Esnoult. The actress and singer was convinced that the “traitors” were Bernard Werber and Bruno Sanches. To exclude them from the game, she therefore set up a strategy with Clemence Castel and David Douilletwithout suspecting for a moment that she was actually allying herself with the real “traitors” of the game.

During the final reveal, she was blown away (understatement), which made for a great TV moment. But the moral is safe: David Douillet and Clémence Castel, who played for the benefit of the Harvey Solidarity and Rêves associations, have decided to share the prize pool of 32,250 euros with Elsa Esnoult, who will donate her share to the SPA.

During this final, you went through a lot of emotions. Is it easy to get over it?

When, at the last round, I realized that I was among the traitors, I fell 150,000 floors. A lot of things went through my head. It took me a long time to come back down because the emotion was so intense. What I found great was the power of the game. I let myself be caught in my own trap. At the time, I said to myself that I had been laughed at but also that it was magnificent because those in whom I trusted trusted me. We trusted each other and the three of us made it to the final.

You couldn’t contain your emotions…

I had tears in my eyes, I was at the end of my life, I told myself that it was not possible. I saw that Clémence and David also had tears in their eyes. They said to themselves: “Poor thing, she’s going to be angry with us.” So, no, I don’t blame them.

Once the filming was completed and the cameras turned off, what happened?

As soon as the last sequence was shot, it was extraordinary, Clémence and David immediately came to see me and said to me: “This final is the three of us. It is thanks to you if we got there, we share the sum with you for your association”. It made me cry even more. They proved to me that they were really friends, that there was sincerity. They are amazing people who I will always hold in my heart.

You never considered that Clémence Castel and David Douillet could be “traitors”?

The game lasted six days, from morning to night, it was very intense and, for me, Clémence and David could not be the traitors. They were my friends. They played wonderfully. I could believe them, in their doubts and all that. I thought they were more in danger than anything else. I told myself that I had to protect them. The worst thing is that I see myself telling them “Don’t worry, I’m handling the situation, everything is fine!” (laughs). They must have enjoyed themselves!

Even when the noose tightens around them, it seems inconceivable to you to write one of their names on your slate to eliminate it?

That’s the worst! Even when the mathematical logic was implacable and there weren’t enough players left that at least one of them couldn’t not be a “traitor”, I couldn’t imagine it. In my head, it was not possible. This game drives you crazy!

Has this experience made you more suspicious?

Honestly, it didn’t change anything in the sense that, even if it seems paradoxical, I wasn’t wrong. They played the role of traitors, but I was not mistaken about the human. I was right to trust them, they kept their word on the votes and so did I. I felt them well, I trusted my instinct.

Do you fear the dissemination of this outcome?

No way. I was sincere in my approach since I told myself that I was going to take my friends to the final. I told them my strategy, we made sure of our solidarity. In the end, it worked (laughs). Nobody expected this kind of final, me the first. In fact, I found it beautiful.
