An 18-year-old woman was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention on Sunday for the stabbing homicide of her mother on Friday in Sézanne (Marne), the Reims prosecutor’s office told AFP.
“The victim’s daughter has been indicted for homicide on the ascendant. She was placed in pre-trial detention in accordance with the requisitions of the prosecution, “assured AFP Béatrice Neveux, deputy prosecutor of Reims, confirming information from L’Est Eclair.
Five sores on the neck
The young woman had called the gendarmerie on Friday around noon claiming “to have stabbed her mother following an argument”, had then indicated the prosecutor of Châlons-en-Champagne, Ombeline Mahuzier, initially in charge of the file.
The 54-year-old victim had “five blunt wounds on the neck” and “two wounds on the palms of the hands that may indicate a defensive gesture”. She had succumbed despite the intervention of the firefighters, added Ombeline Mahuzier. The victim’s daughter “benefited from follow-up as part of an educational assistance measure which ended in December 2021”, had also written the prosecutor of Châlons-en-Champagne.
