The protests of football fans have now reached the darts stage!

During the break between the quarter-final games between Michael Smith and Gerwyn Price as well as darts prodigy Luke Littler and Rob Cross, large parts of the approximately 10,000 fans in the Mercedes-Benz Arena loudly shouted “Shit DFL”.

From then on, anti-DFL/DFB chants briefly echoed through the arena, which can also be heard on TV.

Since the vote on November 14th, protests by the active fan scene in football stadiums have been increasing week by week. Most recently, fans smuggled Tennis balls and slingshots into the stadiums. They repeatedly threw balls onto the field, forcing long interruptions in the game.

Luke Littler’s Germany debut

Darts prodigy Littler is playing in Germany for the first time – and how! In his quarterfinal match against Rob Cross (6:5) he plays a 104 average. In the semifinals he beat the reigning world champion and world number one, Luke Humphries (6:5), also in the deciding leg. He will be supported throughout the evening by his girlfriend Eloise (22) and his mom Lisa, who are sitting in the front row.

In the final he quickly leads 2-0 against van Gerwen. But the Dutchman fights back with a strong performance, leads 4:3 after seven legs and plays an average of 112!

The Dutchman on the microphone at “DAZN” after the game: “My will was there. I was focused and felt good. That’s what you need to win this evening. I played well in all three games.”

An incredibly competitive evening: 75 of a possible 77 legs were played! The German darts fans got their money’s worth…
