The Englishman Luke Humphries is in top form a few weeks before the Darts World Cup. The elite around defending champion Smith also have to fear him.

The English darts professional Luke Humphries confirmed his top form a few weeks before the World Cup and has finally joined the ranks of the top favorites.

The 28-year-old won Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton and celebrated his next major title after his triumph at the World Grand Prix. Humphries clearly defeated compatriot Rob Cross 16:8 in the final. In the afternoon he defeated former European champion James Wade 16:10.

Humphries is the man of the hour on the darts tour. He earned by far the most prize money in the 2023 calendar year. For the World Cup at Alexandra Palace in London, the bookmakers are trading him on the same level as Michael van Gerwen (Netherlands) and Gerwyn Price (Wales). The most important tournament of the year begins on December 15th and ends on January 3rd with the final.

From a German perspective, Gabriel Clemens, Martin Schindler, Ricardo Pietreczko and Dragutin Horvat are represented at the World Cup. Only Pietreczko, nicknamed Pikachu, played at the Grand Slam in Wolverhampton and was eliminated in the preliminary round.
