His conqueror declares war on the entire competition. In addition to the enthusiasm of his fans, Luke Littler also takes important points despite his defeat in the final.

The prodigy conqueror wanted a special finale Michael van Gerwen in Berlin knows nothing. They would have such close decisions ten more times this year, the Dutchman predicted after his victory at the Premier League event in the capital. “But of course it was important,” emphasized the 34-year-old former world champion after a thrilling darts evening in front of an impressive party backdrop.

Luke Littler had previously demanded a lot from the veteran. At his first major appearance in Germany, the 17-year-old vice world champion thrilled the over 10,000 spectators in the Mercedes-Benz Arena, some of whom were celebrating in carnival costumes.

Littler defeated former world champion Rob Cross in the quarter-finals and world champion Luke Humphries in the semi-finals. The teenager’s success story only ended with van Gerwen late on Thursday evening in Berlin. “Disappointed not to finish,” Littler wrote on Instagram afterwards. However, he did not fail to mention the important points for the overall ranking of the Premier League, which van Gerwen has already won seven times.

After his success in Berlin, winner van Gerwen felt confirmed in a previous statement that the best of him was yet to come. “I proved that today. I played better than anyone else,” he said in an improvised media round in the Alba Berlin basketball players’ cabin, which was converted into a press room. And when he commented that Littler had a lot of talent, the Dutchman replied: “Me too.”
