Marion Cameleon, professional makeup artist, explains how to achieve mermaid makeup very easily using her two eyeshadow palettes in collaboration with Sephora Collection. But before you start, we’d like to warn you: you’ll look more like Ursula than Ariel. You have to be scared!
Work on your complexion by reproducing the characteristics of the mermaid
The base of makeup is the complexion. Marion does it in blue but you can make a mermaid any color you want with a colored foundation or face paint.
To be a real mermaid forget your lungs and hide your pores, you will need gills and scales. For the scales, the influencer diverts fishnet tights to make a sort of stencil. In his tutorial for 20 minutes, she sticks tights on her forehead and temples and applies her white makeup over them. For the gills, she draws three fairly irregular black lines at the level of the cheeks. She recommends breaking down the black with a sky blue at the bottom of the gills to add depth. And for more relief, she does not hesitate to make a white line above each of them.
When it comes to your eyebrows, don’t worry, color them with a blue shadow a little darker than the color of your complexion to blend them completely into the look.
Have mysterious eyes and a dark mouth
On the eyes, Marion Cameleon uses a sky blue shadow that she blends into the crease of the eyelid as well as on her lower lash line. And still with the same shadow, she reproduces the shape of an eyeliner line in the outer corner of the eye. Then, she goes over these same areas with a navy blue to intensify the depth and mysterious side of the look. On the mobile eyelid, she applies a white glittery eyeshadow with her finger that matches the “hilarious” shade of her palette. As a final aesthetic touch, she sticks silver rhinestones around the eyes.
As for the mouth, we can trace the contours of the lips with any black pencil, which we will blend with a dark blue lipstick more in the center. If you don’t have blue lipstick, you can replace it with a blush of this color.
Complete your look with some accessories
Makeup is unisex, so you can adapt it to your liking. The makeup artist finalized her look with a sleek, blonde wig, a pair of heavy false eyelashes to complement the eye makeup and add a much more dramatic look to the makeup.
