Dar Salim was best known for his role in “Game of Thrones”. Now he is investigating for the second time in the “crime scene”. Is it going to be a short treat?

The Danish actor Dar Salim (44) goes on the hunt for criminals in the new Bremen “Tatort: And the night always wins” for the second time as Commissioner Mads Andersen. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, the “Game of Thrones” star talks about his involvement in the far north and even gives an outlook on the future of himself in the crime series. Will it only be a short pleasure?

You played in a “crime scene” in 2014 without speaking German. Back then you learned the German text by heart like a poem. What are your German skills doing now?

Dar Salim: I already spoke German in 2014, some newspapers probably exaggerated that a little back then. Now my German is much better and on a different level because I worked on it with coaches. And I feel a lot more confident in the language.

Did you know about the dimension of the “crime scene” cult in Germany before you accepted the role of commissioner in Bremen?

Salim: I knew that the “crime scene” played a major role in Germany and I feel honored to be there alongside so many great colleagues – especially as a non-German actor. But to be honest, I haven’t really felt the effects yet, as I live in Denmark and I’m only in Germany to shoot.

How did the contact come about? Was it explicitly looking for a Danish actor or has the role been adapted accordingly to you?

Salim: Our former editor Annette Strelow, who was in charge of “Tatort: Brüder” in 2014, contacted me and invited me to the casting. I hesitated at first, but then she convinced me and I got the part that was then written for me as a Dane.

You also have international filming experience: What distinguishes German productions from foreign ones?

Salim: As everywhere there are great productions and less strong ones, it always depends on the overall team structure. In Bremen I see the chance that there is still plenty of room for development in order to develop the full potential of Jasna, Luise and me. That will show in the future.

Where do you see your future: In German TV / film, internationally or in your home country Denmark?

Salim: Denmark is definitely my base. I am very fortunate to have multiple options, national and international. The decision what to shoot comes with a love of the project and the team you want to work with. As for the “crime scene”, it needs more long-term planning on the part of the production in terms of the development of the stories and my character in order to continue to be there. In any case, I can say that I am proud to be a Bremen “Tatort” inspector, no matter how long or short the trip will be.
