The cat has to get out of its comfort zone: in the recording studio, at flamenco, on the roller rink and even at the “face reader”.
Musically it continues: In Cologne, the cat sings its first solo song. But shortly before meeting music producer Christian Geller (48), they are plagued by self-doubt. “I can fake anything with my face or my body. […] But when you stand at the microphone, people only hear you. I can’t do anything with my facial expressions or my breasts,” she says.
Mental breakdown in front of the microphone
It gets nerve-wracking at first: Daniela doesn’t find the assignment, the pressure from the experienced producer is high. But thank God Lucas is there: he stands in the singing booth, gives his wife security and a sign of her commitment. “Without Lucas I would have been completely lost,” said the cat afterwards. But the song, in which Daniela sings lovingly about her quirks, is finished and even Grandma Cordalis gives her blessing. “Costa would have been very happy if he had heard that. He thought highly of Daniela,” was the verdict of Costa Cordalis’ widow (1944-2019).
The second part of the double episode is all about the motto “Get out of the comfort zone!” For this, the cat gets up from the sofa for the first time to accompany daughter Sophia and husband Lucas to go roller-skating. The last time she was on a date was long before Lucas’ time on the roller skates. Now she hopes “that roller skating is like riding a bike. You won’t forget that… Well, I don’t have a bike either.” With a pink helmet and neon shoes, he goes to the track: “I think I’ll clean the track with my ass today, but that doesn’t matter, then the cellulite will be ironed out.” Katzenberger daringly turns her rounds under the instruction of daughter Sophia and sometimes lands on her butt. But the “natural airbag” helps against the pain: “Ten pounds less and I would have broken something.”
Soul striptease at the face reader
Then it’s time to say goodbye for a month: Lucas moves to the jungle camp. As a distraction, the cat books a “face reading” for itself and Mama Iris, which is something like reading palms, but on the face. In front of the face reader, however, the cat suddenly feels naked: “Like at the gynaecologist’s, only without the chair.” The face reader then also gives her advice that she doesn’t want to hear: she wouldn’t yet live her life’s work and would have to break out of her comfort zone. “That’s exactly what I was afraid of,” says the creature of habit, the cat, who describes herself as “boring as hell.” Approval comes from daughter and mother and finally she dares to make a decision. She wants to replace her old couch with a new one. Is that the way out of the comfort zone?
