Daniel Radcliffe wants to enjoy the “Harry Potter” series as a viewer. He rules out appearing in it for one simple reason.

Daniel Radcliffe (34) is not celebrating a comeback to Hogwarts. The actor revealed in an interview with E! News that he has no plans to appear in the upcoming “Harry Potter” series. “Like the rest of the world, I’m very excited to be there as a spectator,” said Radcliffe. He “doesn’t think” he himself will appear in it.

The new series and the eight films in which Radcliffe played the lead role apparently have nothing to do with each other. The 34-year-old hinted that the show’s creators “wisely want a clean break” to separate the planned TV show from the popular film series. “I don’t know if it would work if we did something in it,” he added.

Last year Radcliffe already said to “Comic Book”that he “definitely” doesn’t want to take part in the new series, which is supposed to be a more accurate adaptation of JK Rowling’s (58) bestsellers. Each season will cover a single book. “I understand they’re trying to make a fresh start, and I’m sure whoever’s doing them wants to put their own stamp on it and probably doesn’t want to figure out how to get old Harry to show up somewhere.” said Radcliffe.

Series is scheduled to premiere in 2026

Warner Bros. has been working on the series reboot of “Harry Potter” for several months, which is being produced for the streaming service Max. As “Variety” reported, the first part of the series will be shown there in 2026. The head of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav (64), revealed this in February at the quarterly investor conference. Further details about the project are not yet known.

The seven novels in the “Harry Potter” series by JK Rowling were published between 1997 and 2007. The film series consists of eight parts: The first film “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” premiered in 2001, which concluded on the big screen “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” in 2011.
