Daniel Craig has had the privilege of meeting the Queen a number of times. The monarch always proves her sense of humor, as he reveals in an interview.

James Bond actor Daniel Craig (53) has been allowed to call himself Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George since January 1 – an honor that Queen Elizabeth II (95) awards in her New Year’s list. The actor has met the monarch in person several times: during a guest appearance in the “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” he has now unpacked the anecdote from a meeting in 2012, which proves how much humor the 95-year-old has.

For the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Summer Olympics the two appeared together in a skit. In the video, James Bond picked up the Queen in a helicopter at Buckingham Palace and flew her straight to the stadium, where she parachuted down onto the crowd. As the two posed for a photo, she pointed to him and said, “Oh no, he’s the one who never laughs.”

Daniel Craig: Queen ‘always wants to joke’

Queen Elizabeth II is “very funny” and “always wants to make fun of it,” said Craig. “She always wants to make fun of me.” Craig also spent time with the Queen’s corgis during filming, he recalls. “I rolled around with them on the floor most of the time,” he says. “I believe they have their own butler.”
