Dan Flavin at night – Bavaria

The concept of the DasMaximum museum in Traunreut is quickly explained: no changing exhibitions, no crowds of visitors, no explanatory texts. Instead, “permanent settings” in five halls and with first-class works by Dan Flavin, Andy Warhol, John Chamberlain, Walter De Maria, Georg Baselitz, Imi Knoebel, Uwe Lausen, Blinky Palermo and Maria Zerres. All of this normally only happens in daylight – that’s how the museum’s founder, the former gallery owner Heiner Friedrich, decided. It is therefore special when Flavin’s neon tubes are allowed to shine in the dark, as they will do on Friday, February 2nd. With “Flavin at Night” DasMaximum ends the winter break and starts the new season.
