For 15 years, BR has been shooting its cult series “Dahoam is Dahoam” on a former factory site in Dachau. The fictional village and the city have long since merged. About false bricks, short commutes and a world without crises.

The last Christmas tree balls are just being hung on the Christmas tree when a warm summer breeze blows across the square in front of the “Brunnerwirt”. “You don’t see that later on TV that it’s so warm today,” says producer Frank Hein with a grin. “When the actors are in their winter costumes, the rest don’t really stand out.” In the series “Dahoam is Dahoam”, which can be seen Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30 p.m. on BR, Hein ensures that all the threads come together. The production has a lead time of two to three months before the broadcast, in other words: the Christmas episodes will be shot in September, and spring should be in front of the camera in January. And that’s why on this late summer day winter feelings must arise in the east of Dachau.
