Dachau folk festival: BRK takes care of 350 patients – Dachau

The Red Cross Dachau has drawn a positive folk festival balance from a medical point of view. During the ten days of the festival, the on-call team took care of around 350 patients, with eight emergency doctor calls and 26 ambulance calls. For head of operations Dieter Ebermann and his volunteer team, it was “a completely normal folk festival”.

“The numbers are easy to compare with the years before the pandemic. We didn’t have any unusual emergencies,” says Ebermann. “Everything was there, from plasters to heart disease,” he explained. 26 patients had to be taken to the hospital. A total of 46 volunteers were present from 12 noon until after midnight, in two shifts, each with ten paramedics.

Dieter Ebermann praised the cooperation with the Dachau volunteer fire brigade: “We received outstanding support at peak times.” In order to be on site quickly in the event of an emergency, the fire brigade was represented at the festival with six fire safety guards. BRK district chairman Bernhard Seidenath summed it up: “The fact that the festival was positive and happy overall is also thanks to the work of our volunteers at the station. While the others are celebrating, they sacrifice their free time so that they can help in an emergency.”
