Dachau: ADFC organizes children’s bike demo – Dachau

For the second time, a Kidical Mass took place in Dachau on Sunday afternoon – as well as over the entire weekend at over 200 locations throughout Germany. Just like the Critical Mass demos regularly organized by the ADFC, this event also wants to draw attention to the needs of cyclists, but to those of particularly small ones: children.

The first Kidical Mass in Dachau took place in 2021. At that time, many of the participating children wrote and drew their wishes on postcards. Simon Schories, Chairman of the ADFC Dachau, recently handed these over to the Mayor of Dachau, Florian Hartmann (SPD), in the form of a mobile.

“The mobile to which the postcards were attached symbolizes the balancing act that is required in traffic planning, but also for the special sensitivity that children have to be part of,” says a press release. Because, it goes on to say: Children are the most vulnerable road users, so you have to be particularly considerate of them. There should be no rest “until every child can cycle safely through Dachau”.

For this year’s Kidical Mass, around 30 participants – a few children, their parents and other adults – met on Sunday on the Ludwig-Thoma-Wiese to cycle from there together to the Moorbadpark.
