Cyclists compete in the 69th mountain criterion in the old town of Dachau – Dachau

The cycle racing spectacle of the Soli Dachau association, which always caused excitement around the old town hill during the folk festival, had to be paused for two years. This year, the traditional “Mountain Criterion” could finally take place again – and now for the 69th time. Almost all age and performance classes of cycling competed in eight individual competitions, professionals as well as amateurs, children, young people and seniors. Around a hundred athletes started the elite race, including some professional drivers from home and abroad. The bike race is considered to be athletically challenging and because of the cobblestones also not entirely harmless for cyclists. When it rains, the surface can quickly become slippery for narrow tires. Luckily the road was dry after the night’s rain long before we started. This year, the supporting program has been reduced somewhat. The Soli Dachau association made this decision consciously: the focus should be clearly on the sporting event. At the time of going to press, however, it was still unclear who won the race among the pros this year. It was exciting until the end.
