The 9th stage of Tour de France 2023… or the great return of Big loop on the slopes of the Puy de Dôme! Thirty-five years after the Dane’s victory Johnny Weltz at the top of this giant of the Massif Central, the riders of the 110th Tour de France will have the honor of climbing it on the greatest race in the world, and this in particular to the delight of the Auvergnats who are Romain Bardet (Team dsm-firmenich) and Remi Cavagna (Soudal Quick-Step). Between Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat – the home of the great Raymond Poulidor – and the Puy de Dôme, there are 182.4 kilometers to be covered through the reliefs of Auvergne (3,600 meters of altitude difference), but these are the last 13 that everyone is waiting for with immense impatience.
The 9th stage of the 110th Tour de France, route and profile!
59 years after the duel between Anquetil and Poulidor… Pogacar VS Vingegaard?
Extremely demanding, the Puy de Dome climb is 13.3 kilometers long and its average percentage of slope is 7.7%, knowing that the last 4 terminals are at almost 12% on average. A bitch! Fifty-nine years after the legendary duel between Jacques Anquetil And Raymond Poulidorwe hope to witness a battle of the same ilk between Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) and Jonas Vingegaard (Jumbo-Visma)… and given what these two champions showed in the Pyrenees, we can expect a great show. The fight to climb the third step of the podium will also resume its rights, all the competitors of Jai Hindley (BORA-hansgrohe) having an interest in starting to catch up on the Australian.
