Cycling in Munich: workshops strive for 24-hour service – Munich

Oiling chains, patching tires, repairing gear shifts: the cycling season also means that the rush to the workshops begins. The shops want to avoid long waiting times. But the same applies here: Gradually the staff is missing.

Saturday morning, 10.30 a.m., in front of the “doctor bike” bike shop in Munich Schwabing. The entire sidewalk around the entrance area is full of rental bikes and bikes that customers have brought in for repairs. While in the back of the shop, which is not only a sales area but also a workshop, two young men are working on a mountain bike, a line has formed at the entrance. The crystal-clear voice of Helene Fischer sounds out of a loudspeaker to those waiting, who are lining up in front of the door due to the narrowness of the shop. “I don’t care about hell tomorrow morning,” sings Helene. A cheerful woman at the cashier’s table hums along happily.
