Instead of investing many millions in the optimal expansion of an existing cycle path in Elisenstraße, the city should ensure the basic infrastructure in the area. There’s still time for the glitter factor afterwards.
The expansion of cycle paths is one of the most important goals of the green-red coalition in Munich City Hall. The Elisenstraße, as a danger point for cyclists for years, has a special meaning. Here the Alliance Radentscheid 2018 presented the two citizens’ requests, with which safety and comfort should be increased city-wide. But with the new cycle paths that have now been decided, the Elisenstraße will become a completely different symbol. It stands for what a cleverly enforced and well-considered turnaround in traffic does not look like.
