When a publisher stream for “Cyberpunk 2077” was announced, the community’s curiosity was high. With all the enthusiasm for the stroke of genius moments of the SciFi action role-playing game are the bumpy start and the open construction sites do not forget.

But CD Projekt Red managed a surprise: The developer not only announced numerous innovations – he also delivered promptly. Patch 1.5 was available at the end of the stream.

In addition to gameplay improvements, AI, quests and general technical upgrades, the patch released for all systems also brings the much-anticipated free graphics update for Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Gamers equipped with the current generation of consoles can choose between performance and ray tracing mode (Xbox Series S excluded). Performance mode ensures smooth gameplay at 60 frames per second with dynamic 4K scaling. Ray tracing mode offers photorealistic rendering of shadows and reflections at 30 frames per second with dynamic 4K scaling.

That has actually been improved

But PC, PS4 and Xbox One also benefit from patch 1.5 – in terms of content and technology. The most important changes at a glance, the full patch notes are there here:

  • Performance has been stabilized.
  • Because in “Cyberpunk 2077” as in “GTA” a lot of cars and motorcycles are driven, massive improvements have been made here. For example, the new patch comes with a burn-out mode that promises more freedom with drifts and more precise maneuvers in the rush of speed.
  • The brakes of all vehicles have also been improved – in the sense of an anti-lock braking system. Some vehicles have been tuned and the performance of the motorcycles has been optimized.
  • NPCs react more realistically in traffic.
  • If the protagonist V was too fast on foot for you, you can now walk more slowly on the PC if you wish – by pressing the “G” key.
  • So that the overview in the open world is not lost, there are new icons that show the main and fixer missions more clearly. In addition, individual elements can be hidden from the map using a filter if desired.
  • Also new: V can improve his reputation with the fixers. More reputation is rewarded with new quests. In addition, rewards and prizes have been better balanced.
  • Unhelpful perks have been removed, others modified and new ones added. The skill points are reset for this, so you can redistribute them completely.
  • Untimely holo calls can be skipped and called up later as a text message.
  • There is something new to experience in Night City: Patch 1.5 brings numerous new tasks.
  • Another detail: the NPCs don’t put up with it very well: if you provoke them, you have to reckon with resistance.
  • Fine-tuning is also available when dodging. This has been replaced with damage reduction chance and amount. Improvements in combat are noticeable, among other things, in the AI.
  • Water now looks more realistic.

What else does the update bring?

The biggest hit: V’s appearance can now be individually designed – from hairstyles to piercings to make-up, there are no limits to your imagination. You can adapt V’s look in front of the mirrors in your own apartment. The transmog system hoped for by players to be able to visually customize V’s clothing has still not made it into the game.

Where V lives is now also a matter of taste: four new apartments in Night City are available for rent. You can find them via the EZEstates website on Vs Computer. There you can also redesign the original apartment. Greetings from the Sims!

Activities in one’s own home now also have an effect in some cases. For example, sleeping boosts skill experience points by 20 percent, coffee increases maximum stamina by 25 percent. New guns and mods like scopes and muzzle brakes are available in Wilson’s Gun Shop, around the corner from V’s Apartment.

If you haven’t bought “Cyberpunk 2077” yet, you can look around the game world for five hours with a new demo version until March 15th. The achievements made in it can be taken over in the event of a purchase.
