The Federal Agency for Civic Education is used to headwinds. Because they obviously feel that they are meant to be involved when the Federal Center enlightens in publications and events on the broad spectrum from right-wing populism to right-wing extremism, representatives of the AfD regularly try to question their work. Recently, two AfD representatives even filed a complaint against Thomas Krüger, the president of the federal headquarters. And the AfD agitator Hans-Thomas Tillschneider from Saxony-Anhalt accuses the state agency there for political education of having an “overstretched concept of democracy” – whatever that means, after all, the federal agency also addresses Islamism, left-wing extremism and anti-Semitism in its work.
