Living on an island, the Groisillons and Groisillonnes are used to being cut off from the world. It was even truer this weekend with blackouts that affected the electricity and telephone network of the island located in Morbihan.
This follows the violent thunderstorms that hit Groix during the night from Saturday to Sunday. Lightning fell in particular in the village of Méné, damaging a transformer. All day Sunday, many inhabitants of the island were deprived of power. After the intervention of Enedis teams from the continent, the situation returned to normal around 1 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

Although it is not yet known whether the incident is linked to thunderstorms, a failure also occurred on the Orange network on Sunday evening around 6 p.m., depriving 1,500 customers of Internet and telephone. Two hotlines were immediately set up at the fire station and at the island’s gendarmerie brigade to welcome people unable to reach the emergency services. The situation was being restored on Monday afternoon, according to the operator.
