Christmas is slowly approaching. The first markets are taking shape and large Christmas trees are already adorning central squares.

Even if the mild autumnal weather doesn’t make you think about the festival at all: Christmas markets are already being set up in many cities. Since Thursday, the season has also been announced in Munich with a 25 meter high fir tree on Marienplatz.

The tree for the Frankfurt Christmas market in front of the Römer (town hall) was already delivered on Tuesday (1.11.). The 25 meter high spruce called Manni comes from the Spessart. Due to the energy crisis, it is to be given less light than in previous years.

The tree in Munich was erected in front of the town hall on Thursday morning for the Christmas market. It is a 50-year-old Siberian silver fir from Hohenpeissenberg in Upper Bavaria. From Monday (November 7th) the tree will be decorated with economical LED lighting, the city announced.

The Munich Christmas market and the Frankfurt Christmas market will open on November 21st. In some cities, however, the markets start earlier. First Advent is on November 27th.
