Current rumors about Apple, Canon, Leica, Nikon, Sony and Tamron

Apple iPhone 14: Will Apple significantly improve the smartphone camera? +++ Canon: EOS R6 II with stacked sensor like the EOS R3? +++ Leica: Is the Leica MP already imminent to be replaced? +++ Nikon: Is it really coming, the Z 8 with 67 megapixels? +++ Sony: Will Alpha 7R V be presented in October? +++ Tamron: telephoto zoom for Fuji X later this year?

Apple has for September 7th a product presentation announced, in all probability the iPhone 14 will be presented. Insiders and Apple specialists expect significant improvements (among other things) in the camera. The main camera of the iPhone 14 should have a 48-megapixel sensor that stores 12-megapixel images with pixel binning. This process, which has been used for a long time in high-quality Android phones, has advantages, especially in poor light conditions that require high ISO values. It is also speculated that the simpler models iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max could also get a wide-angle camera with F/1.8.

at Canon the engineers are apparently busy developing an EOS R6 II, which is intended to replace the EOS R6. Now the rumor mills are circulating that the new one could get a stacked sensor with built-in DRAM – maybe even the same image converter as the EOS R3. This would not only give the EOS R3 a slight increase in resolution, but also high continuous shooting performance and possibly video in 4K 120p.

Leica is apparently preparing to replace the analog Leica MP. It’s almost 20 years old now, the MP was introduced back in 2003. Details haven’t been heard yet, just this much: Leica could present its new analog rangefinder camera as early as October.

all around Nikon there has been a lot of fuss over the past few weeks. Exactly: a possible Z 8. A Nikon Z 8 suddenly appeared in the rumor mills, only to disappear just as quickly. And now the rumors are back, this time fueled by a photo. Nikon China published this in full resolution a few days ago – with around 67 megapixels. Now the rumor mongers have put two and two together … . But does the calculation actually add up?

Sony is considered to be extremely tight-lipped, credible rumors about new products very rarely get out. Nevertheless, it has been rumored for weeks that an Alpha 7R V (possibly with 100 megapixels) is just around the corner. Now some insiders are even committed and believe they know: the camera could come at the beginning of October. We are excited!

Of Tamron there are currently two lenses for the Fuji X, the 18-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD as well as that 17-70mm F2.8 Di III-A VC RXD. Now the Fuji Rumors rumor mill is wafting: Tamron also has a telephoto zoom for Fuji X on the pan. Which one is still uncertain. However, apparently not for long, Tamron is supposed to lift the veil this year.
