The comedian Richard Lewis died recently. In the 1990s, he had developed a very specific stand-up style that has often been described as unnerving, an erratic, neurotic list of his most pressing fears of the moment. But his followers included David Letterman, who regularly invited him on his show, and so the rest of America couldn’t resist being better acquainted with Richard Lewis.
