Cum-Ex: Politicians should not interfere with Cum-Ex – Economy

In the Cum-Ex case, a Green minister is doing exactly what he shouldn’t do: influencing the work of public prosecutors. This shows a lack of tact and political foresight.

It is a strange appointment that is taking place this Wednesday at the North Rhine-Westphalia Ministry of Justice in Düsseldorf. Cologne’s senior public prosecutor Anne Brorhilker is coming at the request of Minister Benjamin Limbach. The Green politician wants to discuss with the investigator how to proceed in one of the biggest tax scandals in Germany. The aim is to speed up the Cum-Ex investigations, according to the minister’s official version. Brorhilker can hardly be thrilled about her little business trip from Cologne to Düsseldorf. But the country’s leading cum-ex investigator has no other choice if she wants to prevent her from being disempowered. If she wants to prevent her Cum-Ex main department from being split into two sections, of which she only has one left.
