The previous balance sheet of the culture pass, one of the prestige projects of Claudia Roth’s term as Minister of State for Culture, is not bad: 285,000 young people have registered via the culture pass app, which is 38 percent of the target group, i.e. all young people in Germany, per year came of age in 2023. More than a million purchases worth more than 21 million euros were made with the Culture Pass budget of 200 euros per person – almost 650,000 books, 260,000 cinema tickets, more than 110,000 tickets for concerts and theater performances were purchased. And yet: It is not certain whether it will continue to exist, in what form and with what budget.
