Touring keeps him fit: Alice Cooper’s sport takes place on stage.

The US rock singer Alice Cooper (“School’s Out”, “Poison”) watches her diet, especially on tour. “I really watch what I eat, even if I don’t eat much,” said Cooper (75) of the German Press Agency in London. “But I think that’s part of it too: You could eat whatever you want, as long as you don’t eat a lot of it.” On his new album Road, out August 25, Cooper sings about touring as a rock star.

On tour, he usually treats himself to a big breakfast, the singer said. “Because I know I can’t get dinner because I’m doing a concert, so I’m always hungry when I go on stage,” said Cooper, who quit alcohol and drugs around 40 years ago. “When I’m on stage, I definitely don’t want to feel full.” After the concert, he eats fruit or a bowl of cereal, the 75-year-old said. “I never eat a pizza before I go to bed.”

According to Alice Cooper, his meager diet and the rigors of his theatrical concerts have a pleasant side effect. “When the tour is over and I’ve played an hour and a half every night, I’ll be in better shape than before.” He doesn’t keep himself in particularly good shape, said the passionate golfer, who is constantly on the go, either solo or with his band Hollywood Vampires. Because now every tour is like a “great aerobic workout” for him.
