She was president of the state parliament, carnival queen and the social conscience of the CSU. Hardly anyone in the party was as close to the people as Barbara Stamm. This is one of the reasons why she made a political career that was not predetermined for her. She has now passed away at the age of 77.

Barbara Stamm loved to be among people. Often among strangers, as is the case with politicians, but Barbara Stamm was not a stranger for long. She squatted down, taking her time. She listened, even when it was urgent. “People, keep it to yourself, folks,” that was her motto, and that’s what she said to her fellow party members when they hurried past the people and their concerns.
