CSU plans party conference on September 23 in Munich – Bavaria

15 days before the state elections in Bavaria, Markus Söder wants to be confirmed in office at a one-day party conference as CSU chairman. The CSU board decided on Friday at its meeting in Munich for September 23 as the date, as the German Press Agency learned from participants. According to the information, the party conference is to take place in the state capital of Munich, despite the Oktoberfest.

In addition to Söder, the entire CSU board will stand at the party conference for the regular elections, which take place every two years. In the first half of the year, the CSU wants to decide on its new basic program “For a new togetherness” at another party conference. CSU General Secretary Martin Huber said after the board meeting: The party received it very positively that “we are also facing the new urgent challenges with the new basic program and will present it accordingly on May 6th and also decide it”. The next state parliament is to be elected in Bavaria on October 8, 2023. On the same day, the citizens of Hesse also vote on a new state parliament.
