Cruise: The Titanic looks so tiny next to the “Icon of the Seas”

Watch the video: XXL colossus – the Titanic looks so tiny compared to the largest cruise ship in the world.

They are floating cities that offer a variety of leisure activities and attractive holiday destinations.

Cruise ships are very popular.

No wonder shipping companies want to outdo each other with increasingly extravagant ships.

The motto is more guests, more offers on board and, above all, ever larger ships.

The most famous cruise ship in the world, the Titanic, was the largest of its time at 269 meters long.
It offered space for around 2,400 passengers and was considered a symbol of superlatives.

Today, the modern giants of the cruise industry easily overshadow the Titanic and make it seem downright small.

The ranking of the largest holiday steamers is without exception led by the ships of the shipping company Royal Caribbean.
At the top: The Icon of the Seas.
The steamer started work at the end of January 2024 and is considered a ship of records.

At around 365 meters long, it is almost 100 meters longer than the Titanic and can accommodate 7,600 guests.
That’s more than three times as many as the Titanic, which sank in 1912, could accommodate.

The cruise industry has been criticized for years because of its poor environmental performance. Royal Caribbean has now responded that the new ship will run on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and will be equipped with fuel cell technology. It also has “a state-of-the-art waste management system and can convert engine heat into electricity,” said the shipping company.

Whether this really makes the cruise environmentally friendly remains questionable.
