A woman from Dallas was banned for life from a shipping company’s cruises because she had CBD gummy bears in her luggage. We’ll tell you what you should avoid on a cruise.

What was supposed to be a relaxing cruise with the family ended for Melinda Van Veldhuizen from Dallas with a lifelong ban from her trusted shipping company. The reason for the early end of their journey was a pack of gummy bears, like the “Washington Post” reports. Accordingly, the holidaymaker was stopped by security because of a nail clipper – and searched more closely. The employees of the cruise company Carnival Cruise Line found a pack of gummy bears with added CBD – i.e. hemp as an ingredient.

According to Van Veldhuizen, he had them with him so he could sleep better. In the end, the cute little bears probably achieved exactly the opposite, because they are the reason why the passenger booked the one cruise was not allowed to compete. However, the nurse still had to cover the travel costs – and on top of that she was banned from the entire shipping company for life, as the newspaper quoted her lawyer as saying.

It may sound exaggerated, but it’s due to a rule that many tourists don’t know. The reason is very simple: most cruise companies strictly prohibit CBD products. By attempting to take a corresponding product on board, the American violated the rules – and now has to face the consequences. So that something similar doesn’t happen to you, we took a look at the on-boardEtiquette looked at – because the CBD ban is not the only thing you should know.

No Go’s on board a cruise ship

The biggest source of error is definitely luggage. There is a long list of items that don’t belong in your suitcase for a cruise. While every shipping company still has individual regulations, there are a few basic bans that apply to almost every ship. It is forbidden to take the following things on board: hairdryers, hair straighteners, irons, kettles, Segways, heating pads, external sockets, adapters and laser pointers. The rules regarding electronic devices are so strict because they would significantly increase the risk of fire on board. In addition, it is usually forbidden to take intoxicants and alcohol as well as food (depending on customs conditions). Drones, bicycles and pets also have to stay at home on a cruise.

The shipping company that denied entry to the nurse from Dallas because of the CBD in her gummies has another strict rule for its passengers. As it is on the website of the cruise company, there are certain wardrobe requirements for guests. For example, the company’s Q&A section states: “All guests are expected to wear clothing and accessories that are respectful of other guests.” Clothing should not contain messages that could be considered offensive or contain nudity, profanity, sexual innuendo or innuendo. And further: “In addition, clothing and accessories must not promote negative ethnic or racist comments, hatred or violence in any form.”
