Crown Princess Mette-Marit has appeared in public again after canceling an appointment due to health problems.

After having to cancel an appointment for health reasons a few weeks ago, the Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit (49) has appeared in public again. Together with her husband, Crown Prince Haakon (49), she attended a football game in Oslo on November 5 and seemed visibly lively and in a good mood.

As the women of Norwegian clubs Stabæk FK and SK Brann battled it out for the Norwegian Cup on the pitch, the royal couple cheered them on from the stands at Oslo’s Ullevaal Stadium. Mette-Marit kept warm in a striped turtleneck and down jacket, blonde hair slicked back in a ponytail. The SK Brann players took the trophy home after a 3-1 win.

Mette-Marit suffers from a chronic lung disease

Concern about Mette-Marit’s health had grown at the end of September. At that time, she had had to prematurely end an appointment at a women’s center. According to the palace, the reason was the side effects of medication that the crown princess was taking to treat her pulmonary fibrosis. After that, no further appointments were initially planned for them. The lung disease causes “periodically more complaints” for Mette-Marit, it said.

The Norwegian royal family had already announced in 2018 that the crown princess was suffering from chronic lung disease. For this reason, she will occasionally make fewer public appearances in the future, it was said at the time. The pulmonary fibrosis had apparently been detected at an early stage, which has a favorable effect on the treatment, the doctor treating the Crown Princess explained at the time.
