Cro in the Olympic Hall – Munich

Anyone who thinks that the pandas “Meng Meng” and “Jiao Qing” loaned to the Berlin Zoo were the first in Germany is mistaken. They didn’t just have animal predecessors. On January 31, 1990, the country’s first singing panda was born in Mutlangen, Baden-Württemberg. Germany’s probably most musical bamboo bear introduced himself with “Hi Kids, I’m Carlo”.

Cro, as he calls himself, picks up where he left off last year. In 2022 he went to Munich three times. In addition to an appearance at the Tollwood Summer Festival and one at the Zenith, the artist also performed at the Allianz Arena in November. This happened during the National Football League game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Seattle Seahawks.

On September 9, the interpreter of “Traum” (2014) and “Once Around the World” (2012) will return to the state capital. In the Olympiahalle he will perform his album “11:11”, which will be released in 2022. In more than eleven songs, the singer explains his love in the finest Denglisch, with sentences like “If the world goes up tomorrow, I’d be down with you” (window) or “You drive me crazy, oh baby… I think I’m in Love” (Hey Love) .

The current album is preceded by five studio albums and several EPs. The artist made his breakthrough with his 2011 single “Easy”. Cro produced the beat to the song himself. He used a sample from Bobby Hebb’s song “Sunny” (1966). With the album “tru.” Carlo Waibel said goodbye to his trademark, the panda mask. A more subtle and all-white mask takes its place. This will be replaced again in 2021 with the release of the album “trip”. With a lot of imagination, the well-known panda bear can still be seen in the current mask. A panda that came to Earth directly from space by spaceship.

Bamboo is probably not one of Carlo Waibel’s favorite dishes, but cereals are at the top of the musician’s menu. Matching the new futuristic mask, the artist launched his own “Cereals” in July this year. The panda-shaped, high-protein and low-sugar breakfast cereals, created through a collaboration with the start-up “Spacies”, founded in 2021, are available in coconut and honey flavors.

While Cro is touring through Germany with his “Cro – 11:11 Open Air Tour” in the summer, his new EP “Spacejam” will be released on August 25th. An eight-song audio carrier also available in transparent vinyl or Walkman-compatible cassette form.
