6:35 am: Lula condemns “the violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine”
Under the fire of American criticism for “echoing Russian and Chinese propaganda”, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva clearly condemned on Tuesday the “violation of the territorial integrity of Ukraine” by Russia. On Monday, the spokesman for the American National Security Council, John Kirby, had thus reacted to the remarks of Lula who, during a trip to China, had accused the United States of “encouraging war” in Ukraine and said that they should rather “start talking about peace”.
Unlike several Western powers, Brazil has never imposed financial sanctions on Russia or agreed to supply ammunition to Kiev and is trying to position itself, like China, as a mediator.
