criticized after her meeting, Valérie Pécresse denounces on BFMTV a “macho phenomenon”

After a critical meeting both in form and in substance, Valérie Pécresse assured that she was the target of macho remarks, like the other presidential candidates.

The candidate rejects some of the criticism. Taunted, including in her political family, after her campaign meeting last Sunday, Valérie Pécresse reacts on BFMTV. The representative of the Republicans for the next presidential election thus denounces a “macho phenomenon” in the campaign.

“When Emmanuel Macron made his first meeting of his first campaign 5 years ago, there was a moment when he changed live, when he started shouting. Did he get the same criticism as me? The truth is quite simple, when it’s a man, it’s a mistake of youth. When it’s a woman, it’s a weakness”, declares Valérie Pécresse.

“I am a maker”

According to her, “we have male candidates who are the favorites of the media”. “They are not necessarily the favorites of the polls, but the favorites of the media because they represent what they expect”, assures the one who is now caught up by Éric Zemmour in the polls. She also explains that women are disadvantaged because they “have different ways of thinking, different ways of speaking”.

His analysis is partly shared by Jean-François Copé. On BFMTV, the mayor LR of Meaux thus assured that we “must have no illusions” concerning the misogynistic nature of the criticisms against Valérie Pécresse.

Earlier on RTL, Valérie Pécresse defended herself on another ground. She conceded that she was not a great speaker, which she was accused of after her speech on Sunday. “If you want speakers, there are plenty of them in the countryside. I am a doer, and it is true that I am more comfortable in direct dialogue with the French,” she explained.
