CR7 and Alves won the 2016 European Championship together. They almost formed a team in Turin too.

Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to bring his compatriot Bruno Alves to Juventus Turin. CR7 played for the Bianconeri from 2018 to 2021 and advised in January 2019 to sign the experienced central defender. Alves revealed that to the magazine Sports week.

Alves said: “Juventus got in touch with my agent Jorge Mendes. They were looking for a central defender. Cristiano Ronaldo called me too. He said he would be happy to have me as a team-mate.”

Alves then played in Serie A for Juve rivals Parma. However, there was no transfer to Turin. The Bianconeri decided against signing the then 38-year-old. Coach Allegri decided to “bet on the players he already had in his squad,” said Alves.

The long-time Portuguese international knows Cristiano Ronaldo very well from the Seleccao. Together they became European champions in 2016. After a short period of non-association, Alves is now playing for the Greek first division club Apollon Smyrnis. CR7 joined Manchester United last summer.
