Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric voted for Mason Greenwood in the Kopa Trophy
CR7 and the Croat agreed: Mason Greenwood was number one among young footballers in 2021.
Former world footballers Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United) and Luka Modric (Real Madrid) agreed choosing the Kopa Trophy for the best young player of the past year for Ronaldo’s clubmate Mason Greenwood. Despite the full number of points from the two superstars, Greenwood did not make it into the top 3. He finished fifth.
Ronaldo and Modric were with the from France Football carried out voting as two of 32 previous Ballon d’Or winners entitled to vote. Ronaldo put Greenwood in first place, followed by the Portuguese who placed his compatriot Nuno Mendes (PSG) and Giovanni Reyna from Borussia Dortmund.
Kopa Trophy: Pedri wins ahead of Bellingham and Musiala
Modric meanwhile decided in second place for Barca jewel Pedri, followed by another BVB professional in Jude Bellingham.
The award, which has been presented since 2018, went to Pedri on Monday evening. Bellingham and Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala also landed on the podium.
