Last year alone, for example, the employees of the Middle Franconia crisis service made more than 19,000 telephone calls, as well as more than 1,000 online consultations and personal conversations, said the Middle Franconia district, which significantly finances the Middle Franconia crisis service.
The constant crisis mode with wars, economic hardships and the impending climate crisis endangers the psychological stability of many people. In order to reach as many people as possible via the “Crisis Services Bavaria” network, the offer has now been massively expanded.
With the help of a special translation service, the control centers will in future be able to provide callers who do not speak German with competent crisis assistance – even in rare languages such as Farsi or Dari. Within a short period of time, the control centers can connect native-speaker interpreters for currently around 120 languages, the statement continues. The Middle Franconia Crisis Service itself has been offering initial psychological relief in Turkish and Russian for several years.
The Bavaria crisis services can be reached on the uniform, free telephone number 0800/6553000, seven days a week, around the clock. An open conversation about depressing feelings, hopelessness or even suicidal thoughts can often be a great relief for people in crisis situations. “If those affected can do this in their own native language, this is extremely important and de-escalating,” said District Council President Peter Daniel Forster, according to the announcement.
